Hand & Lock are specialists in the field of Goldwork and have been creating goldwork badges for the military forces for nearly 250 years. This one day workshop covers the multitude of techniques involved in manipulating gilt threads and wires to create metallic embroidery designs.

Goldwork has a luxurious, opulent quality and is used in couture fashion and interior design to create dazzling and contrasting textures. 

During the workshop students will learn how to plan their design, build up a three-dimensional surface and apply a selection of metallic textures, including the following techniques: 

Cut work 
Soft string padding 
Felt padding 
Passing 
Pearl purl 
Couching 
Chips
