Textiles to sooth the mind and soul
Join us for a day celebrating textiles and how creative activities positively impact health and wellbeing. Our day will begin with an introduction from founder Polly Leonard followed by three speakers. Betsan Corkhill
Betsan Corkhill founder of Stitchlinks on The Science behind Knitting for Health and Wellness.
Ruth Battersby Tooke, Senior Curator of Costume and Textiles at the Norwich Castle Study Centre, will speak on Stitch & Solace drawing inspiration from the exhibition Frayed: Textiles on the Edge.
Marie O'Mahony Professor of Advanced Fashion + Textiles at Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) University, w ill speak on the topic of Advanced Textiles for Health and Wellbeing
In the afternoon you'll have the option to concentrate on your own health and wellbeing when you take part in one of five therapeutic workshops: basket weaving with Hilary Burns, tapestry weaving with Sue Lawty, spinning with Steve Kennett, rush weaving with Felicity Irons or Quiltmaking with Abigail Booth.
All materials and lunch are included
Throughout the day we will also have Amanda Saurin from AS Apothecary on hand to offering reviving treatments tailored to crafters.
