Felt Insects with Claire Moynihan
Saturday 30 September, 11-5, £120 includes a light lunch
Hosted by Claire Moynihan
Textile Artist Claire Moynihan’s work is a ‘freestyle’ form of embroidery that can be described as stumpwork. She is unconstrained by formal embroidery techniques, which leaves her free to experiment with threads and local materials to achieve her aims.
With an appreciation of the natural world and love of drawing Claire has always been interested by the study of insects, which is reflected in the minute three-dimensional felt embroideries. She enjoys the humour in producing insects that are realistic and presenting them as traditional entomological collections. Claire Moynihan's work is held in private and international collections.
On this course you will leave with your very own insect to take away, Claire will teach you how to wet felt and hand embroider to create either a bumblebee or a ladybird.
All the materials are provided; this class is suitable for beginners.
