Alison Reid is a textile designer and illustrator with a penchant for travel and all things small. The two passions are firmly rooted in her childhood. Her father worked all over the world and would send postcards from locations far and wide. Alison own work is inspired by her travels round Russia, China, Egypt, Australia and Vietnam. Collecting a Kaleidoscope is an exhibition of 19 objects from the Crafts Council Collection selected by Ralph Turner, renowned curator, writer and former Head of Exhibitions at the Crafts Council from 1979-1989. Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery has commissioned Susie MacMurray and Lucy Stevens to create art in the grounds of the Castle. Susie has staged Tempus Mutatum (Time/change) a haunting installation of hundreds of musical instrument strings (and bow hairs) suspended from tiny hooks in the ceiling.
