Selvedge
In the latest issue of Selvedge illustrator and Royal College of Art graduate Chloe Cheese interprets chiffon for our 'Fabric Swatch' feature. She deftly captures the particular qualities of the cloth even though she's more used to subjects such as the countryside around her home. "Return to Essex" is Chloe's recent series of illustrations, prints and watercolours for St Judes.

THIS SCEPTER'D ISLE
Selvedge is an international magazine and we try our best to represent the whole 'world of textiles' but this issue we couldn't help focusing on Queen and Country to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. Fortunately Elizabeth II is the most travelled monarch in history so we followed in her footsteps to Pakistan, where we find a wealth of colourful textiles. UK subscribers should receive their issue in the next 14 days.

If you are lucky enough to own one of Sophie's fine wool scarves but miss wearing it in the warmer months these are the ideal solution. Lightweight but with the designers distinctive palette and beautiful handwork perhaps you should add one to your summer wardrobe?

Kate, a graduate of Central St Martins, is offering cooking and craft classes for children and grown ups. To do so she has converted the town's former brewery in Cranbrook, Kent into a comfortable and inspiring craft space. http://bakeandcrafthouse.com
