Jessie Ford's stylised portraits avoid the sinking feeling
that often accompanies snapshots. A freelance illustrator
based in Brighton, her work is distinctive for its flat
colours, liberating lack of detail and carefully drawn
silhouettes. When not working on commissioned pieces
or up a ladder painting murals, Jessie works on her
children's book, to be published later this year.

Designing
Women of Post War Britain; Their Art and the Modern Interior
is an exhibition of works by three influential female artists. Textile
design changed radically after the Second World War and three women
were pivotal in this revolution; Lucienne Day, Marian Mahier and
Jacqueline Groag. The distinct and innovative style of the work
created by these women is still relevant to contemporary domestic
interiors. 20 September - 25 January 2009, Denver Fine Arts Centre,
