At this time of year, the pressure is on to find the perfect gift – something unique, something that the person in mind surely cannot already own. For us at Selvedge, the perfect gift has been made with care, has a story behind it, and can be treasured. Unfortunately, such gifts can be elusive if you don’t know where to find them.

This Christmas, we have teamed up with Anthropologie, a shop like no other. Going into an Anthropologie store is like stepping into a cross between a favourite aunt’s dressing room, and The Great Exhibition. Buyers and designers travel the world and bring back ideas and wares to inspire Anthropologie’s curated mix of clothing, accessories and furnishings. Anthropologie was founded by Dick Hayne in 1992. He had a friend in Philadelphia was looking for a new place to shop that spoke to her creative side. Dick had the idea to build a global lifestyle brand that would offer an alternative shopping experience to women like his friend, and so Anthropologie was born (so-named because Dick studied Anthropology at university, although he decided to use the French spelling). 

Today there are over 200 Anthropologie stores worldwide, but each has a collection and style of its own. Over the years, Anthropologie has teamed up with various philanthropic partners, including The Girl Scouts, The Barnes Foundation for Children and others, following through on its commitment to work with local communities through art and creativity. Local stores host events and activities, bringing together people with a shared appreciation for travel, fashion, art, and community.
