Reinterpreting classic images but playing with colour, form and scale to produce prints with the charm of the past and the humour of the present. The inspirations for Thornback & Peel’s designs are borrowed from a range of sources from Mrs Beeton’s household management, 17th Century microscope imagery of the natural world to Alice in Wonderland. The brand launched in 2007, when Juliet Thornback and Delia Peel met and collaborated on a series of hand-printed accessories. The first Thornback & Peel shop was opened in in Bloomsbury in 2012 and their small team of talented screen-printers print many items in the Cockpit Arts Studio just a stone’s throw from the Bloomsbury shop. Their AW15 collection sees new additions with the new all-over designs on even more hand-screen printed products. New prints include porky pigs accompanied by the richest of mushrooms; proud pheasants nestled amongst crisp oak leaves, along with a magnificent pineapple, long revered as the queen of fruits. The Christmas collection of Stag & Mistletoe and Robin & Holly designs can also be found across the kitchen and dining collections, as well as on Thornback & Peel’s well-loved Crackers, each filled with a hand-printed hankie, joke and hat.
