The Noir collection is a project that truly embodies slow fashion, sustainability, and a Chinese millenary textile tradition. The pieces in this collection were created to honour both the fabric itself and a dyeing process that carries 2,500 years of wisdom and skill. Each garment is unique. The patina created from mud dyes is like wearing the earth, the sky, and the souls of the people who have dedicated their lives to texture and textile. Mud silk dyeing is a seasonal communal effort that takes place from May to October in Canton. During the rest of the time, these artisans plant rice. Noir collection is a joint effort with artisan Liang Zhu and Marcella Echavarria.
