9 March 2019, Illustrative Stitch with Sue Stone, London, UK

£145.00 GBP

Saturday 9 March 2019, 11-5, £145 including a light lunch and materials

Taught by Sue Stone

Sue Stone is a UK based textile artist who studied Fashion at St Martins School of Art and then Embroidery at Goldsmiths College in London. Built in layers, Sue’s mixed media compositions contrast the slow building of an image in hand stitch with the spontaneity of free machine stitch and paint.

In this workshop Sue will explain how to create a portrait using only hand stitch and appliqué. Black & white images will be used as a starting point for your portrait (a selection of images will be available for you to choose from). Add your own imagination and choose your fabrics (from a selection) to reflect your own personality. Sue will bring her handling samples to illustrate the processes she uses to make her work. By the end of the workshop you will have the necessary skills to develop your own figurative work further.

All materials are included but please bring your own basic sewing equipment: i.e. pins, needles, and scissors and any specific threads you enjoy using.

This workshop is suitable for beginners.
