During our Summer Selvedge Social we hear from Jilly Edwards with a Travellers Tale and Celia Joycey joins us to talk about tapestry in Edinburgh.
Jilly Edwards work started with her travels. As a young child she would travel around a large part of the western side of the UK with her father who was a commercial traveller, selling salt! This introduced her to some extraordinary people, who used salt in their processes, salt glaze ceramics making sewer pipes etc, tanners for their processes and she became hooked on making. For this Selvedge Social Jilly talks to us about the ancient art of woven tapestry which was used to show wealth, stories, and keeping the cold and damp out. Her work she hopes brings warmth and a story...
