Jacqueline works in recycled metals; brass, gold and silver, enjoying the fact that these metals have had previous lives and can now be appreciated for their natural raw beauty. Inspiration is taken from the natural world: plants from the local marshes, seaweeds, leaves, seeds and flowers, the sun, moon and stars, and bodies of water are all to be found in the collections. Observational sketches are first simplified and then worked up into paper maquettes before being formed from metal. Most pieces are textured using hammering as a finish - the tiny hammer marks bring out the depth of colour in the metal as it catches the light. Using age-old techniques and simple hand tools, the pieces celebrate the beauty of nature, the uniqueness of the handmade, and the authenticity of raw metal.

Find out more and follow ALBA Jewellery:
www.alba-jewellery.co.uk
@alba_jewellery

Beyond Biasa, a family jewellery business was founded by Annie, whose passion for jewellery began during her travels across Asia, where she started her collection. It is in Jess’ Suffolk studio that the initial sketches and mood boards are made, this is a slow and thoughtful process before she creates the colour-ways and knits the pattern swatches. Many different colour and yarn combinations are tested throughout the design stage, always referencing initial mood boards containing all tonal colour and stitch ideas.
