16 February 2019, Tapestry Weaving with Fiona Rutherford, London, UK
Saturday 1 September 2018, 11-5, £120 including light refreshments and materials
Taught by Fiona Rutherford
Fiona Rutherford is an artist specialising in tapestry weaving. Her work is highly narrative; containing simple abstract imagery infused with a love of colour that stems from her early childhood in India. She exhibits internationally and her work is held in major UK public collections.
This one day workshop will focus on the use of colour to create shapes, lines and texture in tapestry weaving. We will also be looking at controlling tension and basic finishing techniques to make tapestry weaving simpler. The emphasis is on a playful approach to the use of colour. By the end of the day you will have a small tapestry sampler to take home as well as new ideas for the next one.
Please bring a pair of small sharp scissors. Tapestry frames are provided with a range of coloured weaving yarns. However, you are welcome to bring any yarns you may want to experiment with.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and intermediate level
