Outline of workshop
Experiment with composition, using over lapping layers of translucent fabrics to build areas of different colours and tones.
Create a collage that is the backdrop for your hand stitching.
Working from sticks, cuttings, leaves and feathers create a delicate still life.
Using pencil, (water colour and/or fabric paint if you have them), see how you can transfer images on to silk organza. Experiment making marks with stitch, looking at stitch length and density.
Using drawing and collage with an emphasis on really looking at the subject, studying shape, colour and shadows, build an appliqué. Use long and short stitches to bring your work to life with texture and colour.
On this course you will make a series of test pieces.
