Saturday 27 February 2021, 11am - 5pm GMT
Virtual Workshop, hosted on Zoom by Flora Collingwood-Norris
Flora Collingwood-Norris is a knitwear designer and maker based in the Scottish Borders. Since graduating in 2009, Flora has worked freelance for a range of companies designing swatches, creating catwalk pieces for Christopher Kane, Jasper Conran and House of Holland, designing hand-knit and crochet patterns, and teaching. In 2016 Flora started Collingwood-Norris, her own brand of ethical, colourful knitwear, and offers a bespoke visible mending service alongside it as well as mending workshops.
Outline of the workshop
A day-long workshop exploring visible mending techniques for knitwear with Flora Collingwood-Norris. This workshop will take you through darning and Swiss darning, starting with the basics as well as exploring pattern within darning, and using colour. You will also learn how to tackle holes at the edge of your knitwear and look at ways to make your mending more creative.
A materials pack will be sent to participants prior to the workshop. You are also encouraged to bring some worn or holey knitwear to discuss and potentially start working on, although this is not essential.
No mending experience or knowledge of knitting necessary.
Materials pack includes:
2-3 knitted fabrics to practice on
8 mini skeins of yarn in a suitable weight for the fabrics
1 tapestry needle
1 household needle
