This two day course is for anyone interested in text as communication.  You could be a writer, artist, philosopher, actor, graphic designer or simply wanting to discover a more profound personal means of communication.  This is open to everyone regardless of experience.

During the course you will explore 
- how to reveal the essence of a text
- how to get to the heart of a story
- the presence and individual identity of handwriting 
- how to follow an idea through from concept to creation without losing spontaneity and authenticity
- how to access the source of creative ideas
The course over two days will comprise of group work, individual project work and a presentation of Rosalind's working process and past projects.  There will also be practical demonstrations and the opportunity to work 1-2-1 with Rosalind alongside plenty of constructive dialogue and sharing.  You are equally encouraged just to turn up and enjoy the freedom of seeing what emerges in a shared creative space.
Practical tips on
- how to find your own authentic mark
- 'writing with a needle' how to break down a script stitch by stitch
- loosening up and letting go and going 'beyond' the text
- appreciation of subtlety within a hand written mark
- intention behind mark making
- conveying emotion in text and language
- how to build a story with layers and depth
- collaborating effectively on creative projects
- how to navigate the commissioning process
- writing with a variety of different tools, including a needle
Materials provided:
Paper/ variety of writing tools/ inks
calico / needle and threads / basic sewing kits
source of texts (poetry/quotes) to be inspired by and work from
hand outs writing with a needle
handwriting exemplars /manuscripts/notebooks/ sketchbooks for reference and inspiration
Materials to bring if you have them:
Basic sewing kit
Notebook/ sketchbook/ drawing writing materials
Any other visual inspiration that you would like to work with
It will be held at STUDIO 4 -  St Oswalds Studios,  Sedlescombe Road, Fulham, London SW6 1RH 

St Oswalds comprise five unique high ceiling artists’ studios built on a historic archery range with great natural light
The Studios are situated just behind Lillie Road
There is a small kitchen facilities in the studio and all tea and coffee will be provided 
Please bring your own lunch otherwise there are plenty of options close by
West Brompton (District & Overground) station is approx 4 mins walk
Earls Court (District & Piccadilly) station is approx 13 mins walk
