Anna-Karin Jobs Arnberg is a master craftsman in embroidery. She is a textile and craft consultant and a textile curator at a number of museums in Sweden. Her embroidery is focused on the popular embroidery "Påsöm", a colourful embroidery in wool that is characterised by flowers and leaf loops.
Her upbringing in a small village in the centre of Sweden, Dala-Floda, has a rich folk culture which inspires her work. She studied ethnology at the University of Gävle, Textile History at the University of Uppsala as well as handcrafts in Stockholm, that have all informed her craft practice. Anna-Karin is also a fiddler and a folk singer.
Outline of the workshop
During this workshop, Anna-Karin will guide you through making påsöm embroidery. The workshop will start by introducing you to the history of the embroidery, the folk dress and the small village Dala-Floda, steeped in folk art.
By the end of the day, you will have practised a range of traditional embroidery techniques to create the striking, colourful floral designs of påsöm.
This session is open to all levels.
A materials pack will be sent to participants prior to the workshop.
Materials pack includes:
- Wool fabric with a pre-drawn stenciled patterns (20 x20 cm)
- Sewing needles
- Wool yarns in 12 different colours suitable for påsöm embroidery

- Paper and pencil (drawing materials)

Workshop Cancellation Policy
All places reserved on workshops are non refundable, however, if you let us know you are not able to make a workshop you have booked at least two weeks prior to the event, we will re-advertise your place and refund your fee as long as we are able to sell your place and the workshop is fully booked.
