Description (story of the item):
The piece is hand knitted with baby alpaca and merino wool. The knitting structure in the torso area is based on the shoulder girdle and its anatomic importance which allows movement. The art of this piece relies in this particular area.
Alpaca and merino wool are from the town of La Estrella in the VI region. This is part of the dry Coast of Chile, a place where the main economic activities are related to agriculture which is closely linked to the craft production. Within the process, artisan women of the area raise the alpacas, shear them, then dye them mostly with natural dyes to then move on to the spinning process, to finally start weaving.
Materials: 40% merino wool from La Estrella, VI región, Chile and 60% Aymara Baby Alpaca.
Measurements / size: 60 cm high / 50 cm wide / 47 cm long arms (under armhole).
