India, Sidr Craft, Khombhi Shawl
A Bandhani Shawl.
Khombi design in natural dyed Lac. Traditionally worn by Muslim women belonging to Khatri, Kumbhar, and Memon communities of Kutch, the Khombhi design was very popular till late 1960’s. The influence of television and modern lifestyle, brought in many changes to the dressing style of the locals. Soon, the younger generation shifted from Khombi design, to bring in contemporary designs and colours to their wardrobe.
We used the traditional Khombi design but with natural color palette of pink & reds derived from Lac.
