Egypt, Takatof Foundation, El Oufah Basket
ElOufah is the Arabic name of a carrying basket made of palm branches stripped of their leaves, which was used in Egypt throughout the centuries.
The word is still known today even if the basket is not being used as widely but because of this Egyptian saying: "El Oufah with two handles is carried by two", which is always mentioned when talking about the importance of cooperation to accomplish a task.
Leather handles of the basket also came with an upcycling opportunity. Badr City has a leather industrial area called the Robeiky, and some artisans had family members working there and brought leather waste to use for the handles.
