Ethiopia, Sabahar, Danakil Zebra Scarf
Product name: Danakil Scarf in black, grey, white (zebra)
Type of product: Scarf
Description (story of the item):
Conceived by the internationally renowned designer, Marina Spadafora, the Danakil is a lightweight scarf that plays with colour and texture. The scarf is woven with lightweight Ethiopian cotton with thicker lines of hand-spun Ethiopian silk throughout. The blocks of colour are separated by areas of light, where the weavers have left the warp threads out.
It is woven on a traditional two shaft loom and finished with our signature hand-braided fringes. The emphasis of the scarf is colour - to allow the wearer to display a richness of colour that is as interesting as its namesake - the Danakil Depression of Ethiopia. This area in the eastern part of the country is famous for its hot pools where the mineral content of the rocks and water creates amazing colours and hues.
