India, Bhairvis Chikan / Mamta Varma, Kalidar Kurti Blush Blouse
Product name:Kalidar kurti
Type of product:Women’s blouse( upper garment-top)
Description (story of the item): This garment is a kalidar (panels joined together) short kurta inspired by the kalidar kurtas worn by men and women in the royal court. This is shorter in length keeping in mind the contemporary fashion style .This kurta has been tailored in our workshop. The traditional neckline has been highlighted by innovatively using phanda embroidery (round pearl like dots) in circular design and mother of pearl buttons. The embroidery pattern was conceived by me as we wanted to use different types of butees (small sprays) on the yoke and a large motif just below the taabeez (button placket) a corresponding smaller motif is used at the bottom of the garment to create a balance in design. The embroidery has been done at one of our karkhana (chikan center) on the outskirts of Lucknow. Once the fabric was received from the weaver, it took twenty-five days to create this product.
Materials: This 100% natural tussar silk fabric is especially handwoven for us in Bhagalpur in Bihar state, using mulberry yarn in the weft and kosa silk on the warp.
