Working closely with nomadic communities and artisans, the studio celebrates the character of each fibre and the subtle variations created by hand.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTheir textiles use \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eyak wool sourced from nomadic communities of Changthang\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, alongside sheep and lambswool from Ladakh and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eeri silk from Assam\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, a \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003epeace silk\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e harvested after the moth has naturally left its cocoon. Fibres are sorted, washed, carded, hand-spun, and woven using \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003ebackstrap and fly-shuttle looms\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, while natural dyes derived from teak leaves, henna, jackfruit bark, and Indian madder create nuanced colour.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFor We Are KAL, irregularities are not imperfections but evidence of making.
