India, Khamir Craft Society, Patanwadi Wool Double Cloth Weave Jacket
Product name: Patanwadi Wool Double Cloth Weave Jacket
Type of product: Hand woven and naturally dyed jacket
Description (story of the item): This roomy, flared jacket with a high-low hemline is hand spun, hand woven by Pareshbhai Vankar and naturally dyed using Patanwadi wool of south Kutch. Featuring a double cloth, this jacket comes with a kala cotton reverse.
This in turn, helps promote two cohesive value chains, that of Kutch’s indigenous desi wool and Kala cotton, both of which tie together various artisanal communities and also facilitates forward linkages that provide sustainable livelihoods.
Materials: Kutch’s indigenous desi wool (from the Patanwadi sheep breed) and organic Kala cotton
About Desi Wool: Kutch’s desi wool is natural, organic, eco-friendly and biodegradable in nature. It can resist odour, stains and wrinkles, repel water, and can make you feel cool in summer.
About Kala Cotton: Kutch’s indigenous Kala Cotton is by default organic because it does not require any chemical-based pesticides or fertilizers. It is a purely rain-fed crop that has a high tolerance for both disease and pests.
