India, Qasbi, Habutai Bharti Circle Emarald Shawl
Type of product: A shawl with delicate pattern of radiating concentric circles in a subtle spring-green background on habotai silk.
Description (story of the item): A delicate pattern of radiating concentric circles in a subtle spring-green background.
This Bandhani dupatta in silk features dispersed concentric circles in a fine ‘bharti’ work. The sea of dispersed dots and circles creates a spontaneous energy of continuous motion.
‘Bharti’ means a filling dot - dots to fill the spaces inside a pattern. ‘Bharti’ work is time-consuming process and requires great skill to be able to do ‘bharti’ work. Today this particular skill set within the Bandhani craft is in decline because of less and less demand for textiles that consume time.
