Argentina, Maydi / Maria Abdala Zolezzi, Knitwear & Weaving
María Delicia Abdala-Zolezzi is an Argentine designer who has worked more than twelve years in the fashion industry in Paris and Milan as a marketing consultant and developing international markets for brands such as Band of Outsiders, Golden Goose Deluxe Brand, Sonia Rykiel, Isabel Marant, Nick Hart, Totem Press Office, PLC Consulting Paris for the Fédération Française de la Couture "Designers Apartment Showroom", among others. She returned to Argentina in 2012 and launched Maydi in 2014, a project that expresses her commitment to the highest quality of art and fashion. Her experience in Paris with luxury and contemporary brands expresses her Franco-Argentine culture. In turn, this is transferred to her designs which successfully reach an exquisite international and Argentine audience. In the domestic market, Maydi focuses on customers who appreciate good taste and high design, redoubling their value by making made-to-measure pieces. In this way she intensifies the uniqueness of each garment and justifies even more the desire to have them.
Maydi only uses natural luxury fibres and organic yarns in their handmade fabrics. The timeless spirit of each piece is manifested in a 100% contemporary and refined design, carried out by ancient techniques of hand weaving. The timeless pieces are enhanced through the unique Argentine know-how of ancient crafts such as hand-knitting, weaving and crochet. Maydi uses the (mostly neutral) natural colours of merino sheep camelids from Patagonia with some accents achieved with natural dyes obtained from native plants such as Tara, Palo Amarillo, Guayacán, Quebracho, and Cochineal. Maydi works with “Patagonian fibres with a conscience” - certified wildlife friendly products.
