Mexico, El Camino de Los Altos A.C., Nopal Quetzal Cushion
Product name: NOPAL QUETZAL
Type of product: cushion
Description (story of the item): Woven on a prehispanic waist loom by the Mayan weavers of the community of OXCHUC (the Highlands of Chiapas).
It is a smooth tissue with a predominant density of the threads in the warp, hiding the weft, giving very dense and luminous colors into the products. It’s a traditional technique of this region. The central motif is hand embroidered once the fabric is ready. Finally, the cushion is hand-sewn.
The creation of this product was made possible thanks to the joint efforts between El Camino designers and the Oxchuc artisans from El Camino de Los Altos, through workshops in the community with all the Oxchuc weavers who are members of ECLA. Each Oxchuc woman weaves at home.
This cushion is made with high-quality 100% mercerized cotton
