The event will consist of a talk by Karen Barbé introducing the technique of embroidery on paper and other semi-rigid surfaces. The talk will also introduce you to her workshop, Embroidery on Paper Online Workshop, which will be held on Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 February 2023. There will be time for questions at the end of her talk.
If you would like to join the Embroidery on Paper Online Workshop, please book to attend at least 2 weeks ahead of time to ensure you receive the materials pack that is essential for participation in the workshop. The talk is included in the cost of the workshop.
In this talk designer Karen Barbé will present an introduction to the technique of embroidery on paper and other semi-rigid surfaces. Following her own process that started over 10 years ago, she will share how empty cereal boxes piling up for recycling allowed her to imagine the possibilities of paper and cardboard in embroidery and how she has evolved the technique in terms of the tools and materials she uses and the patterns she designs for her current projects. If you are looking for new and contemporary ways to inspire your embroidery practice, this is a great opportunity to see up close Karen’s work and craft.
The event will be recorded and a recording sent to ticket holders after the event. Please allow 7 workings days for us to send you the recording.
All Meet the Maker sessions are non-refundable.
