Sunday 20 October 2024, Slipper Making with Scobel Clothing
Sunday 20 October 2024, 14:00 - 16:00 BST (British Summer Time)
Online workshop, hosted on Zoom by Jackie Parsons of Scobel Clothing
Jackie Parsons presents a collection inspired by the elegance of period costumes and the practicality of utility wear. Crafted from natural fibres using time-honoured techniques, these garments are designed with an economy of style that ensures both durability and an inherent romance. Each piece is meant to become a timeless wardrobe staple, cherished for years and immune to fleeting trends—perfect for those who are both practical in mind and romantic at heart.

Workshop Overview:
Before the workshop, you will receive detailed instructions on "how to felt an old jumper" and draft a custom pattern for your feet. On the day of the workshop, I’ll guide you through the final preparations, then we’ll dive into cutting and sewing your slippers.
Materials List:
-
A custom pattern drafted according to the instructions provided before the workshop.
-
Felted fabric from a wool garment that has been deliberately or accidentally shrunk (a 40°C wash with a towel works well, so the fabric’s surface becomes blurred, obscuring the original stitches).
-
A large-eye needle and extra-strong thread in a colour that complements your felt.
-
Fabric scissors.
- Lightweight fabric in a colour that complements the felt cut into strips for making shaggy pom-poms.
- Edging elastic (provided if needed).
Experience Level:
No prior experience is required.
Workshop recording
The workshop will be recorded and the recording made available to you after the workshop.
