Chloë Amy Avery found her love of textiles and embroidery while she was studying at the London College of Fashion. During the following years, Chloë built her practice as an embroidery artist.
Her work is a contemporary approach to embroidery. Although Chloë uses some traditional techniques her work is not traditional. Chloë draws her inspiration from popular culture, people and nostalgia. Her work cuts across language and culture and draws on emotion.
The singularity of Chloë's work is that at first glance it could be mistaken for paint. But the atypical medium and texture of the thread force the viewer to question what they see. Her work blurs the boundaries between art and craft.
Outline of the workshop
Embroidery doesn't have to be pattern lead and you can learn to create freehand with practice and making mistakes. This workshop will give you the confidence to embroider freehand, without a pattern. You will be taught simple stitches that can be composed to create a beautifully unique one-of-a-kind flower meadow.
During this workshop, you will learn skills to embroider by eye and embrace imperfections, along with selecting colours that will enhance your composition.
This three-hour session will set you on your way to creating a 6" hoop flower meadow.
Level of experience
The workshop is suitable for all levels.
Materials
A material pack will be sent to participants prior to the workshop:

cotton fabric (12" by 12"sq)

Variety of embroidery threads
In addition to the materials pack provided, you will need to provide the following materials and equipment:

6" embroidery hoop

Scissors
-
Thimble
-
other embroidery threads of your choice
Workshop recording:
The workshop will be recorded and the recording will be shared with you after the workshop. Please allow 7 working days for us to send you the recording.
Please note: material packs are shipped on an insured, trackable delivery service. Any customs duties, delays, lost or undeliverable packages are the responsibility of the customer. Once a material pack leaves the workshop tutors' hands with a tracking number, the seller has no further obligation to the buyers.
Workshop Cancellation Policy
All places reserved for workshops are non-refundable, however, if you let us know you are not able to make a workshop you have booked at least two weeks prior to the event, we will offer a credit note.
