Online talk, hosted on Zoom
The visual appeal of carpets and rugs lies not only in the beauty and texture of their fabric but also in their complex language of pattern. Carpet-making has long provided a means of non-representational artistic expression, resulting in a diverse repertoire of elegant, stylised motifs.
Carpets and rugs may have given much to the world of contemporary art, in inspiration and actual material; but what contemporary trends will impart to the weaving tradition remains to be seen.
For this talk Selvedge invited a selection of well-known carpet and rug makers to speak about their work, explaining details and materials used far back in history as well as nowadays.
This talk is part of a series of four talks called Uncut Cloths. Get one talk free if you buy all four talks in this series at once. Add all four talks to the basket and the discount will automatically be applied.
