This ‘kibiso’ silk throw is handwoven with 100% ‘kibiso’ silk. Naturally dyed with ebony, the throw is an earthy, terrestrial shade of brown. Large enough to be an indoor blanket or used as a shawl, this piece is incredibly warm and nurturing. Kibiso silk is the outer filaments of the silkworm cocoon. It is difficult to handle and requires a tremendous amount of skill to weave. For this reason, it is sometimes called ‘silk waste’ and is often discarded.
