At Selvedge magazine, we recognise the invaluable contributions that students of textiles make to the story of innovation, heritage, and the ever-evolving craft of textile art and design. This is why, if you are a student with a specialism in textiles, fashion, or a related field, we encourage you to enter The Textile Society’s 2025 Student Bursary competition. Now open for entries, it’s an exciting opportunity to bring your creative vision to life, and with bursaries of up to £1,000 available, this is your chance to secure funding for your final year project, dissertation, internship, or apprenticeship.

Here are the details:
Eligibility
Students studying any textiles-related course in the UK at BA or MA level are encouraged to apply. This includes Textile Design, Fashion, Costume Design. Fine Art, Craft, Performance, and Interdisciplinary projects with a strong textile-led focus.
How to Apply
To be considered, you’ll need to submit:
- A Digital Portfolio (up to 10 slides, PDF format): Showcase your textile explorations, design development, samples, or prototypes.
- A Project Proposal Statement (up to 500 words): Explain your vision, objectives, and expected outcomes.
- A Budget Plan and Timeline (up to 300 words): Detail how the funding will support your project, with clear costings and objectives.

1 March 2025
Membership Requirement:
Applicants must be individual members of the Textile Society. New members should join by 16 February 2025 to ensure their application can be processed in time.
