Thank you for your interest in Textiles from Bengal – A Shared Legacy, a landmark project and publication initiated by the Weavers Studio Resource Centre (WSRC), Kolkata.
Four years in the making, the project celebrates Bengal’s extraordinary textile traditions from the 14th to the 20th century. Drawing from public and private collections across India, it has culminated in a symposium, a museum-standard exhibition in Kolkata, and a richly illustrated book published by Mapin in 2025. Edited by Sonia Ashmore, Tirthankar Roy, and Niaz Zaman, the volume brings Bengal’s legacy to light — from muslins, jamdanis and balucharis to Satgaon quilts, block prints, Santipuris, Tangails, cross-border weaver migrations, and colonial disruption.
The UK and Scotland tour includes events at The Nehru Centre, V&A, V&A East, Whitworth Gallery, and the National Museum of Scotland, with a programme of intimate viewings, discussions, and screenings.
This initiative is presented in partnership with the V&A and The Nehru Centre. As our partner organisations cannot charge admission, your contributions are essential in making this programme possible.
We kindly suggest a donation of £25 to support the continuation of these events and to help bring Bengal’s textile heritage to wider audiences.
Your generosity ensures that this shared legacy continues to inspire, educate, and connect communities across borders.
Thank you for your support, it is very much appreciated.
