For more than twenty years, Selvedge has been a storehouse of stories, and a place where textiles are celebrated not only as cloth, but as culture, history and human ingenuity. The very word “magazine” comes from the Arabic makhazin, meaning storehouse, and since The Gentleman’s Magazine was first published in London in 1663, readers have valued magazines for their authority, novelty, creativity and a distinct personal voice. Independent titles like Selvedge are built on that tradition. 

We exist to serve a passionate, global community and to offer space for voices and stories that might otherwise be overlooked. In print, we create something lasting and tactile — an object to keep, return to and treasure.
