Carpet Diem: A Textile Labyrinth in Paris
This October, Paris will witness a celebration of contemporary textile artistry as Carpet Diem returns for its third edition. From 23–26 October 2025, Espace Commines in the heart of the Marais will transform into a mesmerising labyrinth where rugs and tapestries take centre stage during Art Basel and Design Miami week.
Conceived and curated by Paris-based Italian Francesco Pirrello, Carpet Diem represents a bold reimagining of how we perceive and experience textile art. "I love rugs," Pirrello declares, "and I think they are a little forgotten." His vision challenges the traditional decorative role of carpets, elevating them to protagonists in their own right — hung on walls like paintings and discovered one by one as visitors navigate the carefully constructed maze.

The event's scenography, once again designed by renowned scenographer Hervé Sauvage, will present 40 exceptional rugs and tapestries from both established brands and independent artists spanning 12 countries. This diverse assembly includes both industry leaders and up and coming talent such as Aafke Bennema, Folks and Clans, Kristina Austi, and Bea Bonanno.

What sets Carpet Diem apart is its commitment to equality of presentation. Each exhibitor, whether an established brand or independent artist, receives equal visibility with only one to three pieces showcased — ensuring that every work represents the pinnacle of their craftsmanship. Many pieces will be unveiled for the first time, offering visitors exclusive access to cutting-edge textile innovation.

Pirrello's expertise in exhibition design and market connections stems from his impressive track record. After founding Meet My Project in 2010 — a furniture prototype showcase during Salone Del Mobile — he launched 1000 Vases in 2018, which has garnered significant international attention across Paris, Milan, and Dubai Design Weeks.
The labyrinthine presentation promises an immersive journey through contemporary textile creation, where traditional techniques merge with innovative materials and textures. Open to both professionals and the general public, Carpet Diem offers a rare opportunity to witness the evolving landscape of textile artistry in an intimate, discovery-focused environment.

A commemorative book featuring all exhibited works will be printed for the occasion, ensuring this celebration of contemporary textile creation extends beyond the four-day event. For those passionate about design and craftsmanship, this autumn's Carpet Diem promises to be an unmissable exploration of textile art's boundless possibilities.
