FIVE MINUTES WITH A FRIEND: AU VER A SOIE
Au Ver à Soie is a family business whose activity has always been connected with silk in all the forms and all uses : sawing, embroidery, knitting and even Flyfishing.
Image: Au Ver à Soie threads for flyfishing.
We work with Luxury groups as Chanel, Dior, Lesage, Julien Fournié both for sawing and embroidery. For Flysfishing, we developed a range of silk lines and a range of threads for the flytying. This department is called Pêche à Soie (www.pecheasoie.com)
All our silk threads are manufactured in France to ensure the best quality regarding the product itself and the dyeing process and we sell our threads all over the world, from the UK to Singapore, the US, Chile, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand.
We asked Au Ver à Soie to tell us about something old, new, borrowed and blue:
Something old
Au Ver à Soie was created in 1820 in Paris, we think this is quite old!
Something new
We published a book for our 200th anniversary gathering history of the company and the family, embroidery patterns and flytying.
Something borrowed
We often organise exhibitions with pieces of arts made with our threads that artists lend us.
Something blue
The last range we developed in soie d'Alger was a blue one - range 4930.
Au Ver à Soie was part of our Competitions for Selvedge issue 113.
