Indawo Enkuthula at Wells Art Contemporary
Award-winning artist and designer Lisa Todd has been chosen to create an installation in the magnificent Wells Cathedral for the prestigious Wells Art Contemporary Exhibition, running until August 31.
Interior designer Lisa Todd grew up in South Africa providing her with the perfect tropical canvas to develop a vibrant decorative style. Lisa’s passion for design led to a degree from Middlesex University London and a 20 year international career. An accident forced a change of direction and her love of painting, colour and patternmaking came to the fore.
Lisa creates beautiful paintings for homeware designed for people seeking unique, individual, uplifting pieces. Each design is painted by hand in Windsor before being printed onto natural materials using state-of-the-art technology in the UK. The printing methods reproduce and enhance the hand-painted quality of the image.

Her piece, Indawo Enkuthula (Peaceful Space), features a series of banners based on Lisa’s original artwork and woven in South Africa using a high percentage of recycled waste materials.
This traditional tapestry, presented in a contemporary style, conveys joy, peace, and the power of Ubuntu, a Zulu word meaning "I am because you are."
The expansive space of Wells Cathedral is perfect for displaying these banners, reminiscent of the large-scale liturgical banners that adorn churches and palaces across the world.
The Wells Cathedral Shop is also offering a range of Lisa’s products, including greeting cards, handwoven wire angels, and bowls.
