London Design Festival 2024: The King's Foundation Exhibition
London Design Festival 2024: Celebrating 20 Years of Design Innovation. Launched in 2003 by Sir John Sorrell CBE and Ben Evans CBE, the London Design Festival has become a cornerstone of the city's creative calendar. For two decades, this annual event has showcased London's design prowess, bringing together the nation's most innovative thinkers, practitioners, retailers, and educators for an unforgettable celebration of creativity.
A Vision Realised
The festival's inaugural launch at Bloomberg on 25 March 2003, garnered widespread support from the design community, educational institutions, government bodies, and London organisations. Twenty years later, the founders' original vision continues to thrive, cementing London's status as a global design hub.
Exploring the 2024 Festival
As we embark on this year's festival, we'll journey across London to experience the best in design innovation. Our first stop takes us to a unique collaboration between haute couture and education.
The Métiers d'Art Embroidery Fellowship
This 24-week educational program, based at the CHANEL Métiers d'Art Training Atelier at Highgrove, offers an unparalleled opportunity for aspiring designers. The picturesque Highgrove Gardens serve as a wellspring of inspiration for the participants. The curriculum is meticulously designed to preserve and pass on the exquisite skills of couture ateliers to a new generation of creators. Students receive intensive technical training, preparing them for illustrious careers in Haute Couture and luxury ready-to-wear fashion.
Exhibition at The Garrison Chapel
The King's Foundation will showcase the final works of the 2023 and 2024 graduates at their public exhibition space, The Garrison Chapel. These pieces represent the culmination of the fellows' hard work and creativity, developed under the tutelage of esteemed Maison's d'Art experts from le19M in Paris. The students have also benefited from additional support and guidance provided by The King's Foundation's expert tutors.
Art enthusiasts and design aficionados can experience this remarkable exhibition until 4 October 2024. This showcase offers a unique glimpse into the future of haute couture and the preservation of timeless craftsmanship.
Don't miss this opportunity to witness the convergence of tradition and innovation at the London Design Festival 2024. This exhibition not only celebrates the achievements of talented young designers but also underscores the festival's commitment to nurturing the next generation of creative talent.
