Lora Avedian: Wild Meadow Tales
Lora Avedian’s work blooms at the intersection of art and textile design, where heritage, storytelling and imagination entwine. From immersive floral installations at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2023, to delicately embroidered linens and bespoke soft furnishings, her pieces feel both timeless and joyfully contemporary.

Every element of Lora’s practice reflects her deep-rooted values: a love of nature, a reverence for traditional craft, and a commitment to small-batch, UK-based production. Whether she’s reimagining a May Morris embroidery for a V&A shop scarf or hand-stitching a bespoke headboard for a private client, each of Lora’s pieces is thoughtfully made to be treasured for years to come. She calls them “modern artefacts,” and rightly so.

Lora’s creative journey has taken her from a BA in Embroidery to a Master’s in Mixed Media Textiles at the Royal College of Art, with a formative spell in set design that still lends scale and drama to her work. Collaboration continues to be a vital thread in her practice, with past projects for Fortnum & Mason, the Garden Museum, and an eye-catching installation for the 2023 Chelsea Flower Show in partnership with Colicci and Article Design Studio.

Her passion for sharing knowledge is just as vibrant. As an Associate Lecturer on the Embroidery BA at London College of Fashion, and a much-loved workshop leader, Lora brings a playful, nature-led spirit to each session. Her workshops - whether teaching three-dimensional flower-making or hand embroidery techniques from her book Stitch in Bloom - invite participants to slow down, explore materials with curiosity, and stitch with joyful intention.
Cornflower Table Runner. Lora Avedian.
To celebrate her recent work, we’re thrilled to offer readers the chance to win a Cornflower Table Runner from Lora’s new Floret collection - a beautifully crafted, made-to-order series available exclusively on her website. Each piece is made in London in collaboration with local makers, using Oeko-Tex-certified European linen. Every flower in the collection has been carefully chosen for its edible qualities and rich symbolism; the cornflower, once used as a natural textile dye, represents life, the sky, rivers, and protection.
To enter, visit the Selvedge website and bring a little of Lora’s magic into your home this spring.
