XTANT FIBRA
The grand opening of XTANT on the 9 May, held over the course of five days, will be a set of art installations, workshops, round table discussions and several talks, all hosted by a chosen group of artists and masters.
Held at the four landmark status venues of Can Balaguer, Can Vivot, Can Marques, and Can Oms, this years XTANT will have a project that is holistic in its celebration of craft, cultural identity and artistry and having the good fortune of gathering in one place an incredibly talented community who generously offer a series of hands on craft workshops. For the amateur and the professional.
Can Balaguer’s baroque lined patio will be wholly dedicated to Spain´s tumultuous history with Merino wool, through a series of art installations and talks with brave local projects like Llanatura & Wooldreamers and a very hands-on collaborative knitting experiences.
XTANT, as an enthusiastic promoter of excellence in craft will once again be hosting its renowned educational programme focused on system change leadership from the 1-8 May at the beautiful Finca Raixa ,overlooking the magnificent Tramontana featuring guest such as Daniel Christopher Wahl, Bunker Roy, Zita Cobb, Li Edelkoort, Dr. Monisha Ahmed, Brigitta de Vos. Covering, through a set of talks, workshops, classes and experiences, a wide breadth of topics relevant to urgent conversations around sustainability, the modern world of artisanry, technology, ethics and more. Including within it practice of meditation yoga and connectedness to the soil of the land.
This year, as part of bringing even more of this educational bent to the general event we will be arranging a three day professional programme with a set of experts on fibre, fashion or interior design-focused, from all across the world, from the 11-13 May.
The hope of this addition is a greater consciousness on the nature and identification of fibre. Diffusing knowledge that might aid in discerning the validity of the varying claims often made about specific fibres.
