Domi, meaning ‘to sleep’ in Creole Haitian, is the name of the luxury sleepwear brand created by designer Ali Blankley. A sister brand to Hazel Brown, Ali was inspired by her expedition to Gujarat, India, where she was able to see first hand the organic fabrics being hand woven by the local artisans. Ali fell in love with the simplicity of the cloth there and from this the brand was launched.
The collection of nightwear is designed with a functional aesthetic in mind, ranging from a two-piece set of nightshirt and trousers, to slips and long tunics. There is also a range of robes and slippers that are ideal for the colder nights.
The collection comes in either plain cloth or a delicate Victorian pattern, ranging in a neutral palette of whites and greys to indigo blue. All pieces are hand woven, 100% organic cotton, and dyed in India. The philosophy of Domi is to combine style with comfort and at the same time creating sustainable production. The company aims to “….emphasize the poetry in ordinary existence; so raw or refined, beauty is what we search for.”
Beginning its origins in California, Domi is now stocked widely in North America, with a couple of international stockists in Paris, France and Hawthorn, Australia.
