A field of crocheted poppies
Polly Leonard went to see this year's Chelsea Flower show and found 300,000 individually crocheted poppies adorning the showground to the Royal Hospital.

In a spirit similar to the Tower of London display last year, the Australian landscape designer Philip Johnson has covered nearly 2,000sq m (21,000sq ft) with hand crocheted poppies.

Three years in the making, the poppies have been donated by thousands of contributors from all over the world. Between 2014 and 2018 Australia will commemorate the Anzac Centenary, marking 100 years since Australia’s involvement in the First World War.
