All of Everything
The 1990s are having a sartorial rebirth and it seems only fitting that the designers of the decade should be revisited. "Todd Oldham burst onto the New York fashion landscape in 1989 and blazed a spirited trail throughout the next decade with his scrupulously constructed garments, featuring extravagant embellishments and raucous colour combinations."
All of Everything takes a look at the intricately detailed and often socially progressive language of Oldham's 1990s creations and shows. “We were always throwing curve balls,” Oldham recalls. “I felt I had something to say and it was meaningful and had duality and juxtaposition.”
Although Oldham began by working in fashion, he has since branched out in film, furniture and interior design. Hence his honorary degree from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2014.
With over 65 different garments on view, the show gives viewers a comprehensive overview of Oldham's work as a fashion designer.
Opening this weekend.
