Barbara Chandler's Best in Show
Barbara Chandler choses her top exhibitors to visit at our Artisan Christmas fair in London – if you didn't make it, do not fear! We are hosting another Artisan Christmas fair in Bath on 12 December.
I love the Selvedge Artisan Christmas fair - so many people have such passion about what they are selling. And there are dozens of quirky originals and one-offs. Rebecca's Aix has handmade bags, cushions and accessories from a fascinating selection of old and new fabrics, including Liberty prints teamed with grain or flour sacks, old French linens and salvaged bits of tapestry and embroidery. The Drapers Daughter has endless inspirational bits and pieces for sewing projects.
But my all-time favourite is dear friend Antonia Graham - I knew her so well when she was running her West London shop Graham & Green, which celebrated 40 years last year and is now safely in hands of son Jamie. She has close-packed racks of fashion treasures - garments and jewellery - gleaned from seemingly endless tours of India and Vietnam. Prices are very reasonable - I bought two short-sleeved printed silk blouses last time! Now we are promised "good embroidery, carved horn and new designs in velvet and boiled wool jackets, coats and dressing gowns.
We hope you got a chance to see all of these beautiful stalls at our Artisan Christmas fair in London last week. If you didn’t make it – do not fear! We are hosting another Artisan Christmas fair in Bath on the 12 December.
