Bath in Fashion

March 17, 2015
Share
Over the course of the 18th Century Bath's population grew by nearly ten times and the city became a cultural capital, where Britain's most glamorous went to be seen amongst the newest fashions. It is in this spirit that 'Bath in Fashion' was conceived six years ago. The week long fashion festival is filled with numerous talks, workshops, catwalks, shopping and film screenings. Celebrated designers, influential editors, opinionated fashion writers and style pundits will all be discussing and debating the constantly changing world of fashion and there will be many opportunities for involvement. Below are just a few examples from Bath in Fashion's calendar... EMBELLISHING FASHION TALK: The Royal School of Needlework and its fashion work

The RSN’s Chief Executive, Dr Susan Kay-Williams, will present an illustrated lecture on the RSN’s involvement in embellishing items as one-off bespoke pieces and will highlight work by its Studio from the 19th to the 21st century, including work by degree students. Founded in 1872, the RSN is a vibrant and exciting forward-looking charity, dedicated to teaching, practising and promoting the art of hand embroidery in the 21st century. Working on high profile projects, such as the Duchess of Cambridge wedding dress for Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen and Patrick Grant’s Savile Row A/W 14 menswear collection “E. Tautz”, the RSN keeps the traditional art of embroidery very much alive.
