Bold new carpets from Grosvenor Wilton
As soon as I feel a slight autumnal chill in the evening air, the desire to sink my toes into a soft pile carpet is irresistible. Just in time-I have found these beautiful new rugs by Kidderminster-based Grosvenor Wilton, one of the UK’s oldest carpet manufacturers. Grosvenor Wilton began making carpets in 1790 and has worked on commissions for historic houses including Buckingham Palace as well as the sets for the ITV series Downton Abbey. Their new collection is available as wall-to-wall carpet, runners or edged rugs, and is inspired by the company’s huge archive of classic 1950s and 1960s carpet designs. Read more about carpets in issue 08 of Selvedge. I love the striking colour, bold pattern, but most of all the reference to a houndstooth check.
