Cattywampus Crafts
Located in the little town of Ojai, California – in a fantastic 1960’s post and beam building that used to be a Carrow’s restaurant – is Cattywampus Crafts.
Set up by Kirk and Anna Nozaki (who previously worked in design and art direction) Cattywampus is a hub for all things creative; with its own shop, lounge area (furnished with copies of Selvedge) and workshop, which is set up for sewing, natural dyeing, macramé, weaving, printing, and more.
Kirk and Anna custom designed the entire space, including butcher block tables and benches for displaying goods, wall shelving inspired by a basket-weave pattern, and macramé light fixtures - all hand-crafted.
Their design inspiration is a modern interpretation of the 70s-craft movement with an emphasis on natural materials and spaces for gathering. The 30-foot ceilings have been sandblasted to reveal rustic, rosy-toned wood and floor to ceiling windows let in soft, ambient lighting throughout the day.
