The doctoral subject of Crafts supports investigations into the role of Crafts in society today. At the doctorial level this involves artistic research developed in dialogue with societal issues. The doctoral student’s reflection on one’s own practice is an important tool for knowledge development and renewal and is situated alongside knowledge of the profession’s discursive context.
The aim of doctoral education in Crafts is to educate with the support of methods relevant to the subject field both in practice and in theory, with a focus on developing the ability to autonomously and critically expand the base of knowledge in the subject with regard to breadth as well as depth.
