Culture, Colour, Place
The Museum Design Summit invites leaders in design, manufacturing, fashion, and media to spend two days immersed in presentations, museum collection tours, hands-on activities, rich discussion and spirited networking events. This design-based event examines Culture, Colour + Place and how these factors inform and inspire the design process. Summit speakers include award-winning Dutch designer Hella Jongerius, Selvedge Magazine founder Polly Leonard, Anna Murray, co-founder of PATTERNITY, and others.
The goal of the Museum Design Summit conversation is to inspire designers to engage more deeply with cultural material as a source of inspiration and to take a fresh look at how place can reveal new directions in colour and design.
Included in the Summit activities is a tour of the 30,0000-piece world-class textile and ethnographic dress collection at the Museum of International Folk Art. This extraordinary space is closed to the public so this tour affords you an exclusive opportunity to see textiles, clothing and objects rarely on view.
The Summit is also timed in conjunction with the retrospective exhibition of acclaimed mid-century designer Alexander Girard, A Designer’s Universe, and the renowned International Folk Art Market. To learn more and register for the Summit, click here.
