Using 100% Merino lambswool from the UK, Emma Wood blends the modern design atmosphere of Berlin and the best of British wool traditions. By combining traditional English craftsmanship with contemporary German design aesthetics, the result is a collection of home and fashion accessories that sits balanced between two cultures.
Each collection is carefully designed by Emma in Berlin, who then works with some of Britain's best wool textile manufacturers to produce the high quality Merino Lambswool cloth. The yarn is sourced from an experienced spinner in Yorkshire, before being woven at the mill only 20 miles away. It is then finished by specialist textile finishers nearby. The last stage in the fabric's journey is being sent back to the design studio in Neukölln, where each piece is handmade. Emma is a British-American weaver who graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2011. She has worked internationally across the textile industry in the UK, Germany and India, and she opened her Neukölln studio in 2013 after moving to Berlin. To meet Emma and see some of her pieces, alongside other talented artisans, visit Selvedge's Artisan Christmas fair in London next week. Artisan Christmas Fair 3 – 4 December 2015
